Three months have passed since Avengers: Endgame, but Marvel followers are still waiting for clarifications about certain mind-boggling parts of the film.
Luckily, significant revelations came out when the film’s writers attended the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, and the directors sat down for an interview.
1. The Judge of the Marvel Multiverse almost got featured
According to screenwriter Christopher Markus, they originally planned to dump Thanos in front The Living Tribunal who will judge him guilty for his numerous crimes. The writers decided to edit it out from the Endgame as the scene will only open up another era and confuse fans.
2. Smart Hulk already existed when Thanos was killed
Smart Hulk was supposed to appear in Infinity War’s third act. He was already existing when Thanos was killed at the beginning of the Endgame. But according to Markus, the Bruce Banner and Hulk’s union was such a big scene that it could possibly take away the audience’s attention from the main plot. Hence the union was moved to later parts of the film.
3. A bigger role for Natalie Portman
One scene in the Endgame was supposed to show Jane Foster, Portman’s character, hearing out Rocket as he tries to give details about the Time Heist. The scene was deleted to provide more focus on Thor and Frigga.
4. Captain America was almost beheaded in Endgame
When the writers were considering alternative ways to bring the past Thanos to the present day, they thought of a scene where Thanos beheads Captain America. Thankfully, Captain America got to keep his head.
5. The writers considered a collaboration between Captain America and Red Skull
The Endgame concludes with Steve Roger embarking on his mission to restore the Stones to their appropriate spots in the timeline. But with what transpired in Captain America: The First Avenger, questions were raised about how he will face Red Skull when he returns the Soul Stone in the empty planet of Vormir.
The writers confirm that Captain America will have to face his nemesis. However, they denied fan theories that Captain America will be able to revive Natasha when he returns the stone back to his enemy’s specter.
6. A peek of Steve’s life after Endgame
Fans and the press were naturally eager to know what happened to Steve after returning all the Infinity Stones and finally getting to dance with Peggy.
According to the Russo brothers, Steve could do a lot of things when you look at it from the perspective of the alternate reality theory. He could rescue Bucky from HYDRA, or save himself from the ice so he can come up with a plan that will allow him to spend more time with Peggy.
